Early detection and treatment advances for breast cancer have prevented hundreds of thousands of breast cancer deaths in the United States in the past three decades, according to a study published inCancer, a journal of the American Cancer Society.
Since 1989, the study’s authors estimate that 384,000 to 614,500breast cancer deathswere prevented in the U.S. in women ages 40 to 84, up to 45,726 in 2018 alone.
